Which service is not free?
The delivery itself will be provided by our volunteers at no cost, but payment for the grocery order will be required by recipients.
Can HungerTech cover the cost of goods or provide financial assistance?
HungerTech is currently only a service-based assistance initiative.
How do I start making delivery requests?
The delivery schedule information that you fill out on the application form will be your recurring date and time, based on the frequency of deliveries you indicated. Once you fill out the application form, you will automatically be added to our platform where volunteers can sign up to deliver groceries.
How soon can I start receiving deliveries?
Once you fill out the application, you can start receiving deliveries the following week after receiving confirmation IF there are 3 days in between the day you received confirmation and the recurring day of the week that you indicated on the form.
How do I make online orders?
Civic Champs will create an online retail account and send you the login information. Once your delivery date is approaching, you will log in to make your order. After compiling your order, select “curb-side pick up”, complete payment, and choose the appropriate time slot for your volunteer to pick up your groceries. After checking out, you will be given an order confirmation which must be sent to hungertech@civicchamps.com.
What if I want to make changes to my delivery time, date, or frequency?
Please contact us at hungertech@civicchamps.com. You may ask for temporary changes or to make permanent changes to your recurring delivery date/time.
How often can I request deliveries?
Deliveries requests will be scheduled based on the recurring time, date, and frequency you indicate on the application form. You may contact us if you would like to request additional deliveries. However, we cannot guarantee that all requests can be delivered, so please ensure that you only place an order after you receive confirmation that a volunteer has signed up to deliver your request.
Will my home address be shared publicy?
No, all volunteers will only be able to see the retail location to pick up your order on our volunteer platform. Only the volunteer who signs up and registers for your delivery request will receive a private message about delivery addresses and instructions.
How do we make the delivery process safe? How can I trust the volunteers?
The safety of our recipients and volunteers is our number one priority. To ensure our recipients’ safety, all volunteers must follow our service policies and expectations. These expectations highlight appropriate and safe participant behavior that must be modeled by all volunteers and recipients. Additionally, HungerTech staff will conduct background checks on all participants, and volunteers must submit proof of driver’s license to ensure verification of identity and safety during the volunteer screening process.
How do I start signing up for deliveries?
You will receive confirmation if your application has been approved. From then, you will receive automated reminders every Monday about upcoming delivery requests. You may sign up for any available requests based on your availability.
What if I cannot make a delivery that I registered for?
Please contact us at hungertech@civicchamps.com as soon as possible. We will make alternative arrangements for another volunteer to fulfill the delivery.
Will I be able to contact the recipient I am matched with?
You may only contact recipients who have given permission to be contacted by volunteers. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact HungerTech staff.
How do I pick up the groceries at the retail location?
Grocery orders will be picked up via the curbside pickup option. Enter the designated parking lot at your scheduled time slot and wait for the grocery store staff to assist you.
How do we make the delivery process safe? How are volunteers protected?
To ensure the safety of all HungerTech participants, all volunteers and recipients are required to follow our service policies and expectations. These expectations highlight appropriate and safe participant behavior that must be modeled by all volunteers and recipients. Additionally, HungerTech staff will conduct background checks on all participants once applications are turned in.
